Atlanta Braves Fan Confidence Poll

If it's Friday, then it's the Atlanta Braves fan confidence poll. This poll and therefore your confidence level should encompasses several areas of the team. These areas include, but are not limited to, the team’s ownership, current management, talent, minor-league system, and general playing ability on the field. The poll will stay open for 48 hours, and then the results will be posted and graphed against the previous weeks.

Poll
On a scale of 1-to-10, with 10 being "100 percent confident," and 1 being "no confidence at all," how confident are you in the Atlanta Braves organization?

It’s looking like another season where the team has tanked in June, effectively ending their chances of a playoff berth. Doesn’t there have to be accountability for the coaching staff for these annual failures at some point? It’s nice and all that the players love Bobby but if he can’t figure out how to put together a line up that scores enough to win games or not to pitch his closers with a 6 run lead then maybe it’s time for him to be given a front office job and get somebody younger and smarter to manage the team.

The only reason this team is still even remotely in contention is that the Phillies have been stinking it up too. It seems inevitable that sometime in July the Phils will make a trade that will right their ship and leave the Braves in the dust.

After they inevitably go 1-5 or 2-4 vs Boston and Philadelphia, I’ll be ready to concede this year and start talking about selling/retooling to try to win next year.

You can only play the competition you're given.

Should the Braves’ division championships not count in the years the rest of the division wasn’t good?

Anyone over a 5 ...

is smoking something. Seriously this team is bad right now and doesn’t even deserve a 5 score.

I voted 6, but its more of a 5.5. I’ll give the organization a little benefit of the doubt, but the major league team is so mediocre right now its frustrating. However, its a 6 due to the minor leagues.

who th efuck gave a 10? Thier fucking crazy, this team sucks fucking ass!!! I am getting close to not being able to watch much more I am so frustrated!!!!!!!

yes the 14 division championships should count. but when you got 3 future hall of famers in your rotation, and in their prime, you should win. just about any manager could have won with those 3. bobby c does not have that now and it shows the last 4 years. even with those 3 bobby c won 1 world series ring. very sad. it is his style of play. their is no { getem on, getem over getem in} he plays for long ball and it cost him. right now he cant figure out a lineup or when to use his bullpen effectively. even torre and larussa can still win games. bobby right now is just a medicore manager.

I voted 6 which is up from the 5 I’ve been giving them lately which I feel has been fair since we’re barely a .500 club right now.

The reason for the slight tick up for me is the fact the offense in the last series, even though we lost has been present for a change.

I’ll reiterate what I posted in the post game thread from last night….

I just wish our offense, pitching and defense could all show up at once to the same ballpark and in the same game. We’d strike fear in all those we face.

I’m hopeful for the next 2 series.

BMac’s slump can’t last much longer and I think the lineup last night was better – we’ll see if Bobby sticks with it or not.

If he sticks Yunel back in the 2 spot, then Bobby has learned nothing from last night.

Yunel in the 5 or 6 spot WORKS

It works until he hits into a double play with Chipper or McCann on at first. I’d rather have Yunel bat leadoff since he’s such an extreme ground ball hitter and have McLouth batting 5th.

yeah, even though Yunel scored us several runs last night with men on base

That’s the kind of logic Bobby uses that results in Francoeur batting 5th or 6th after he has one good game.

I picked 6..

..what’s interesting is listen to XM Home Plate – a lot of their hosts are saying to keep an eye on the Braves..which gives me a chuckle every time. I pegged this team to be a .500-ish team this year and they haven’t disappointed.

Performance on the field and the talent level in the front office are correlated on some level, but in the case of the Braves right now, the team that management has put together is way better than the results we are seeing on the field. Management gets a 9 from me, players get a 5, 7 to the organization as a whole.

I know I’m on the high end but realistically the team is moving in the right direction. The problems this team can be corrected in the off season by getting some established bats. Pitching is always the most difficult part of a team to build and we’re in good shape.

We could use another arm in the bullpen. The biggest change we need to make is at the helm. It’s time for Cox to go.

The only time that happens is when Bobby retires. Just stating the fact.
I think Frank Wren has said

that as long as Bobby Cox was wanting and willing to be head coach of the Braves then he’ll always have a job here. I’m not sure about the other coaches on the staff this year can say that their job security is a given.

well, unfortunately they do have security: look at Terry Pendleton
What about him, precisely?

He’s consistently headed an above-average offense. Guys like that don’t get canned for three months worth of results.
