Still no word on our top two picks, who were supposed to be very signable. With the short-season teams -- Danville and the GCL Braves -- starting play today, I'm eager to get those guys into games and get that first-round draft pick fourth-starter to the bigs!

It's nice

to see a couple of HS kids sign on the dotted line.

Masters, Jones, Hefflinger, RSF, Lorick, all had really good debuts.

Masters pitched 3.2 perfect innings with 8 Ks

Masterfull

Crap, can’t spell.

Oh well, at least his name is pretty sweet.

If we dont sign Minor, heads will roll.

I wouldn’t be that disappointed, because we’ll get the 8th pick in next year’s draft.

It would still be pretty pathetic for a franchise to over-draft a guy big-time just for signability reasons and then not sign him.

You're looking at it the wrong way...

They might well have “over-drafted” a guy they didn’t even really want to sign, knowing they’d have to spend too much on somebody they did want, and proceeded to give themselves the pick for next year in what should certainly be a better crop.

Eh? IF that was the plan then shouldn’t you take the best guy available, just in case you did manage to sign him for a decent bonus and potentially keep him away from other teams in your division/league who might be willing to spend on him?

Depends if he told you there was no chance he'd do that.
My early favorite Mycal Jones

3-6, 2B, 3B, 1R, 4RBI

Damn kid, have a good start why don’t you?

I love speedy MI. If we can harness his raw skills Mycal could be a special talent…. but I imagine there are a ton of prospects you can say that about.

Agreed, but you can always be hopeful with a rookie!

And plus, his last name is Jones…can’t miss, right? :-D

RSF with the first Danville HR too!
Re:

He went 2-2 with a BB and that HR very nice start! That Danville team is going to be a good one.

Maybe you guys can give Minor a break?

He hasn’t even been signed, much less thrown a pitch for the Braves and some of you go out of your way to disrespect the guy.

I agree

This man is a genius

Im not disrespecting, in fact, I’ll be upset if he ISNT in a braves uni soon

Eh, my criticism is more of the FO than of Minor. Sure I’ll be rooting for him, but I’m not going to pretend that I’m happy about the pick.

Sort of relevant

Teheran
3.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 SO, 0 HR

Cant wait to see what he can do

Wow thats amazing. Hopefully the other two get signed this week from the way it played out i get the impression they wanted to sign the lower guys first because they knew it would take the least amount of time

I was looking at our picks today and I hadn’t realized that we drafted Ryan Weber. He was on the 18 and Under National Team last year, so he must be fairly talented. I really don’t know anything about him, and I’m not sure why he slipped so low in the draft, but he seems like a guy it’d be nice to sign.

David Hale will be in no hurry to sign, as last I heard he was planning on completing his remaining semesters at Princeton.
