It seems like the only teams we ever play are the Astros and the Tigers. Tommy Glavine takes the mound for his final official start of the spring today in Lakeland, of course, his "spring" will go on for another couple of weeks.

Five inning limit today for Tommy...
… gotta get back into the trainers room and get those Depends changed.
what is the consensus of the group for Sunday’s opener. My opinion:
Schafer
Yunel
Chipper
Mac
Anderson
Frenchy
Kotch
Johnson
pretty safe, can schafer be the guy at the top of the lineup?
But my bet would be on Esco, at least at first. I think Schafer will bat lead sooner rather than later, I just think Bobby will drop him to 8 so he doesn’t get overwhelmed at first.
I think it’s alright, but I don’t think it’s going to happen because managers seem to have this convoluted perception that batting leadoff puts the weight of the world on that player, so they wouldn’t want to do it to Schafer, so they’ll probably switch him with Johnson or Escobar, depending on the arm of Philly’s opening day starter.
And because of the popular belief that the catcher shouldn’t bat cleanup, Anderson will probably be placed there, with Francoeur batting 5th, and McCann batting 6th to do the LH, RH, LH thing.
Yeah, I never quite understood how batting leadoff puts so much pressure on a player. I would think leading off in the first inning is a lot less pressure than leading off in the 7th or beyond. And since managers can’t guaranty who leads off what inning, I think they sometimes just look to far into it.
Top Half
B:0 S:0 O:0 – Yunel Escobar singles on a line drive to right fielder Josh Anderson.
B:0 S:0 O:1 – Casey Kotchman pops out to shortstop Adam Everett.
B:4 S:0 O:1 – Chipper Jones walks. Yunel Escobar to 2nd.
B:0 S:0 O:2 – Brian McCann pops out to third baseman Brandon Inge.
B:0 S:0 O:3 – Garret Anderson grounds out, shortstop Adam Everett to first baseman Miguel Cabrera.
Bottom Half
B:0 S:0 O:1 – Curtis Granderson pops out to shortstop Yunel Escobar.
B:0 S:0 O:2 – Placido Polanco grounds out, second baseman Omar Infante to first baseman Casey Kotchman.
B:0 S:0 O:3 – Magglio Ordonez flies out to center fielder Gregor Blanco.
Top 2 – Gregor Blanco singles on a line drive to left fielder Carlos Guillen. Omar Infante scores.
ATL 1, DET 0 Top 2 – Yunel Escobar doubles (1) on a ground ball to left fielder Carlos Guillen. Gregor Blanco scores. Clint Sammons scores.
ATL 3, DET 0 Top 2 – Casey Kotchman homers (1) on a line drive to right field. Yunel Escobar scores.
ATL 5, DET 0
Braves win, Glavine gets the win with 5.0 IP, on 7H and 3ER.
Norton doubles, Chipper drives him home in the 9th.
Interesting facts – Chipper Jones has 26 ABs this ST, limited due to his WBC participation and oblique strain. Escobar and Johnson have eclipsed 65. Chipper’s 4 homers leads the team for the Spring, and his 10 RBI are third overall, while OPSing 1.233. Yes this is a small sample, but his small sample is far more impressive than many of his teammates’ full-samples, right now.
I’m minding my own damn business ignoring work/keeping up with the game, and my computer crashes, and after an hour+ on the phone with the good people from DELL, i have a laptop with a clean slate, i.e. i lost everything. Friggin awesome. At least the Braves won.
You tricky bastard…if I click that link I’ll probably get the virus, huh? You used to be a little more subtle with your crippling computer viruses, roy. I guess those days are of a bygone era.

I could get on board with that. I don’t think I would want anyone else in the #1 spot
Bmacbandwagon - April 1, 2009
I have a feeling
That Bobby will bat Schafer in the 8 hole
Zeus12888 - April 1, 2009
who do think we hit leadoff then?
Fortune favors the brave(s) - April 1, 2009
Chipper

Myers announced for 4/5
Yakker - April 1, 2009
I like that. Except swap Johnson and Anderson.
Which Bobby won’t do. But that’s probably how I’d do it.
timmy3 - April 1, 2009
No complaints from me here.
But I’d probably switch Anderson and KJ.
FineHamAbounds - April 1, 2009
Cox won’t lead off with a rookie and I hate Escobar in the 2 hole, he’s a bad as FYF with GIDP.
TradeAndruw - April 1, 2009
yeah it’ll either be the one you posted or switch KJ and Schafer in the leadoff and 8 hole.
GO BRAVES.

Smoltz's Beard - April 1, 2009

Only if it’s where I can still access wi-fi. Otherwise, there’s no way for me to re-iterate how much you suck at Street Fighter.
I have two windows machines at home, btw. I’m just toolsy as hell and can use either without any drop-off.

10-4 - April 1, 2009

yondaime4 - April 1, 2009
Windows Vista

Windows Vista on my home computer is great. I have had no problems in over a year with it.
justincredubil02 - April 2, 2009
you will. just after your warranty expires.
10-4 - April 2, 2009
