The Braves face the Tigers for the first of four meetings in the run-up to the regular season. They are 1-and-1 against Detroit this spring. Javier Vazquez takes the mound, and it is curious to me that Garret Anderson is on the preview page for this game on the Braves site... makes me think that we might get a Garret Anderson sighting in the lineup today. The game will be on the MLB network, hooray!

bravesrbaseball - March 29, 2009
Agreed
Thought it was going to (try and) make me cry, but I’m laughing instead…“but the runner has to stop at 2nd base and tally his banana…game will last all day!”
Just damn, miss him!
Lizziebeth - March 29, 2009
Any time they have a game on MLB Network........
we have to listen to the other team’s announcers. It’s not a huge deal, but what’s the deal with that?
Chief Noc-A-Homa - March 29, 2009
Time for some DETROIT TIGERS BASEBALL, featuring the Atlanta Braves.
bigjoe - March 29, 2009

GoBravesNY - March 29, 2009
ATJ

Emulation of Chipper’s rug?

bigjoe - March 29, 2009
See ya Frenchy HR
MatM - March 29, 2009
FYF

2-0 ATL top 1
GoBravesNY - March 29, 2009
FYF goes deep!
Wow he’s actually good now!
VictorW - March 29, 2009
oh baby
acie4mvp - March 29, 2009
I think Frenchy has as many hits this spring as he did all last season.
MatM - March 29, 2009
G. Anderson walks. nice.
I read today that G. Anderson enters 2009 with 14 straight seasons of fewer than 40 walks in at least 400 plate appearances. That ties Willie Davis for the longest streak in MLB history.
Bravely going forward - March 29, 2009
What an honor
he should be proud of himself lol
MatM - March 29, 2009
Kotchman HR nice
MatM - March 29, 2009
Back to back!
Kotch!

Whoa! Yeah!!
Lizziebeth - March 29, 2009
HAHAHA
lets do this
Chief Noc-A-Homa - March 29, 2009
Maybe they should all get that flu Kotchman had?
mccannfan - March 29, 2009
I hope this is because our players are actually good
And not because Bonderman is still recovering from injury
VictorW - March 29, 2009
I’m counting his pitches. This is ugly
bigjoe - March 29, 2009
Hard to tell
acie4mvp - March 29, 2009
According to the MLB Web site box score, the game still hasn’t started.
Tokyokie - March 29, 2009
I wish those box scores would work
acie4mvp - March 29, 2009
Bonderman Ks Infante to end the inning.
THIRTY FIVE PITCHES.
bigjoe - March 29, 2009
If he pitches a complete game
at this rate that is…315 pitches
acie4mvp - March 29, 2009
Hey, he gets to get all his spring training work in in one day.
Tokyokie - March 29, 2009
If this were the WBC, he’d be gone by the second. Of course, he might be anyway.
Tokyokie - March 29, 2009
Yeah, they said he’s aiming for 50 pitches today. Uh, oops
bigjoe - March 29, 2009
Did anyone just see that commercial...
That guy got killed by the pole
MatM - March 29, 2009
Tigers announcers talking about Vazquez’s bad career record, apparently ignoring the fact half his career was with an abysmal Expos team.
bigjoe - March 29, 2009
I miss the expos
acie4mvp - March 29, 2009
me too, only team whose games I could go to, at least the only remotely close team.
MatM - March 29, 2009
Isn’t Olympic Stadium a complete shithole? I think there were 4000 people in attendance when I was there.
bigjoe - March 29, 2009
Wow, this is weird. The game I was at in Montreal 7 years ago, was started by…Javier Vazquez!
http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MON/MON200207300.shtml
bigjoe - March 29, 2009
Do you live in Montreal?
acie4mvp - March 29, 2009
I live in upstate NY, 15 minutes from the border. And yes Olympic stadium is a shit hole, like pieces of the ceiling fall from time to time. They want to get rid of it, but it would be so expensive to, like it would be cheaper to make a new stadium, which is what they should’ve done. A downtown stadium would have worked out.
MatM - March 29, 2009
Game still hasn’t started according to MLB box score.

Buttafuco13 - March 29, 2009

MatM - March 29, 2009
According to Haithcock, he is.

acie4mvp - March 29, 2009
Is it related to your data?
MatM - March 29, 2009
Bahahahaha no
bigjoe - March 29, 2009
Anderson weakly pops up to center on the second pitch
bigjoe - March 29, 2009
i’d love to see his pitches per plate appearance this spring
Smoltz's Beard - March 29, 2009

it gets his confidence up that he can put a ball in play by sticking a bat right in front of it…?
acie4mvp - March 29, 2009
OUTFIELD ASSIST JORDAN SCHAFER
bigjoe - March 29, 2009

BBJ - March 29, 2009

Smoltz's Beard - March 29, 2009

Chief Noc-A-Homa - March 29, 2009
*Cough Corkymiller Cough*
justincredubil02 - March 29, 2009
Ross
He is going to be a great backup catcher. He already has more hits and HRs in ST than all of our backups all of last year.
Granted, he doesnt have big shoes to fill, so he probably looks a lot better than he really is right now. lol.
justincredubil02 - March 29, 2009
I'm sick and tired of JAnderson swinging at all that ugly stuff
If he gets the CF job…………….who knows. I might do something crazy.
Chief Noc-A-Homa - March 29, 2009
stab your penis with a nail?
justincredubil02 - March 29, 2009

Chief Noc-A-Homa - March 29, 2009

justincredubil02 - March 29, 2009
I did. But it's the truth
Chief Noc-A-Homa - March 29, 2009
Are these announcers on some type of drugs?
Gage23 - March 29, 2009
not sure
but i think our hitters are on something…they are sucking pretty epicly right now.
justincredubil02 - March 29, 2009
*epically
justincredubil02 - March 29, 2009
I've got the game on mute. they're annoying as hell.
I dont think GAnderson went, but I would have much rather seen Diaz or BJones up instead
Chief Noc-A-Homa - March 29, 2009
Bennett looked good
3 outs to go, unless we wake up
Chief Noc-A-Homa - March 29, 2009
Yay Schafer!! Single. Runners on 1st and 2nd. 2 outs
Gage23 - March 29, 2009
Bad Boy Blaine Boyer
Im going out on a limb here….Blaine is gonna be closer at some point this year. His stuff is electric!
mikie baseball - March 29, 2009
I think that limb
is going to break and you are going to fall. Boyer has good stuff, but the only time he will close is:
1. Gonzo and Soriano are injured
2. Gonzo and Soriano both have the night off
3. Gonzo and Soriano are traded
Basically, he is the 3rd option for the closer role right now.
justincredubil02 - March 29, 2009
I think Peter Moylan might have something to say about that too.
cbwilk - March 29, 2009
forgot all about him
somehow…
so boyer is the 4th option.
justincredubil02 - March 29, 2009
If we get down to the 4th option, I’d be all for Tommy Hanson closing.
cbwilk - March 29, 2009
lol
bring up the youngsters, they are ready now!!!
