Bud Selig spoke at my law school. Think what you want about him, but he’s a decent individual, reminds me of my grandpa (only significantly richer).
Selig has been around baseball since the 50s, and according to him, Hammerin’ Hank hit shots to right, right center, and center (before he started pulling the ball) better than anyone who has ever played the game.
Wow…75 eh? I grew up in the Bronx in the late 50s and 60s. Most of my friends were Mantle or Mays fans. Not me. Every year, year after year…35-40 homers, 100 runs scored 110 rbis 320 ba. Quiet, not flashy. Losing Smoltz has been hard. I remember losing Matthews, Spahnnie, Aaron, Murphy, Glavine….Ahhh though, The Hammer!!! What a graceful man.
I shook his hand it Fulton County Stadium when I was a kid then he gave my dad an autograph. It was a defining moment for me. He also had the biggest damn hands I have ever seen
look at that swagga, what is Bjones trying to do???
