Tim Hudson's contract extension with the Braves is now official

The official announcement of Tim Hudson's contract extension with the Atlanta Braves has finally arrived. David O'Brien tweets that the extension is official, and that it is a three-year deal with a fourth-year option. More details here as they become available.

The financial details are in the Braves favor. Hudson took a hometown discount for his three-year with a fourth year option contract at $9 million a year. The club can buyout the fourth year for $1 million. Fantastic contract for the Braves, especially since Hudson is still in his prime.

This rocks

I’m going to enjoy watching Huddy pitch over the next three years.

I guess we now cross our fingers and hope he stays healthy. Trade Lowe instead of Vasquez please.

THIS

Can you imagine a staff completely comprised of TOR starters? That is assuming the Kawakami we saw down the stretch was the real Kawakami.

Hmm…wonder about that option…hope the buyout on it isn’t too onerous.

Huddy seems like a great dude and He deserved this, but let the rumors begin of who is getting traded and to where!! And have the Braves forget about midget meds!

Huddy gave up at least 15 mi if not more to stay in Atlanta. Lackey was the only competition for him on the FA market. Brave’s fans should give thanks. The guy is an even better person than a ball player with all of his charitable works. Rare breed.

and thats saying something…bc he’s really good at basbeall

He’s the kind of guy the Braves ought to have on the club, a great player and a great human being.

Christmas

has come early for this Braves fan. I’d probably vote a 9 on the confidence poll at this point.

Meh.

I’d rather wait until we get consistent offensive help before declaring “Mission Accomplished”.

3/27 with a 9 4th yr option + 1M buyout

Per DOB

So instead of paying Hudson $12M for 2010, the Braves pay him $16M more and get 2011 and 2012, plus an option on 2013? Wow.
