More Baltimorification of the Braves

I guess we should expect more of this:

The O's announced earlier today that midwest crosschecker Deron Rombach has left the organization for a similar position working under former Orioles executive Tony DeMacio in the Atlanta Braves organization. DeMacio was just promoted to scouting director by current Braves GM and former Orioles GM Frank Wren.

As long as Peter Angelos doesn’t buy us, i won’t worry about this.

This is something that sets off that little red flag somewhere at the back of my mind. Not a blatant one, and I’m not worried YET, but… As 10-4 pointed out it’s hard to judge what these guys can truly do without Angelos’ constant interference, and yet there’s still that small part of me that’s going to be waiting for the other shoe to drop now…

So how long untill we start averaging less that 10,000 per game again? :P

have a little faith in wren

While Wren may not be the smoothest operating GM at this point, he has proven himself as competent. He made the Braves a playoff contender and produced a pitching surplus in one year. Given his brief track record here, I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt on his decision to promote DeMacio and, by extension, DeMacio’s decision get the benefit of the doubt.

That, and I do not want to ponder having a lost decade (or two) like the Orioles.

Just curious, how has he proven competent?...

He had a great year here, but looking at his Orioles run, I’d say he’s far from proven. Then again, so long as he’s not bring Peter Angelos with him, I’ll take our chances.
