Just like Chris Berman does, sit back, crack open a fifth of bourbon, and turn on the pun machine. (First one to make a gondeee drinking joke gets banned.)
The order will be:
I'm rooting for one of the little guys at the end to win.
Baseball Tonight at 7pm, Derby at 8pm.

Drink of choice
Coincidence that gondeee and appletini somewhat rhyme?
I guess I hope Braun or Uggla win it. I’m a NL guy but I loathe the Phillies and Berkman looks too much like a fag for me to root for.
Bobby Cocks - July 14, 2008
Well since you said that...
...I’m pulling for Berkman.
sddbaker - July 14, 2008
you really need
to go look at roy’s latest fanpost…
Lizziebeth - July 14, 2008
I did...
and commented… :-)
sddbaker - July 14, 2008
I don't have a dog in this fight...

Lizziebeth - July 14, 2008
CHRIS BERMAN IS YELLING AT ME ALREADY AND I’M PISSED.

bigjoe - July 14, 2008
At least we have Hall of Famer Joe Morgan for insight.
10-4 - July 14, 2008
mustached insight
gondeee - July 14, 2008
FUCK CHRIS BERMAN
Does he think people actually like him? Jesus Christ. I wish he would go the hell away.
sdp - July 14, 2008
Most Sportcenter anchors move on the other things after they’ve been there awhile-Dan Patrick, Keith Olberman, Charlie Steiner, Craig Kilborn. Why can’t Berman do it?
10-4 - July 14, 2008
I think they should add an extra element of excitement to the Derby and put CB Bucknor behind the plate.
10-4 - July 14, 2008
then it would be an ejection derby
gondeee - July 14, 2008
How many HR's can you hit before CB throws you out?
10-4 - July 14, 2008
0
Lizziebeth - July 14, 2008

The homerun derby in HD is pretty awesome… I hope everyone else is so lucky.
gondeee - July 14, 2008

Not even close! I’m still at work and, sadly, listening to it on the radio!
Lizziebeth - July 14, 2008
grady sizemore was REAKING
bigjoe - July 14, 2008

10-4 - July 14, 2008
Has anyone seen Chipper yet? I can’t picture him sitting on the ground.
10-4 - July 14, 2008
i’d assume he’s on a throne somewhere. and i’m not talking about a toilet
bigjoe - July 14, 2008
They were all giving Utley a collective cock suck. I’m glad he flopped.
sdp - July 14, 2008

NL HOME RUNS
1) Berkman 8
2) Uggla 6
3) everyone else
bigjoe - July 14, 2008
rick reilly is driving me more crazy than morgan & berman combined. jesus FUCK is he nuts
bigjoe - July 14, 2008
Hell yeah he is....
... bitching about having no Hispanics or Dominicans in the derby. What a fuckhead.
sdp - July 14, 2008
I couldn’t believe he went there either. What a dumbass. Let it alone. If Papi hadn’t been hurt, he would have been there, and that would be that.
VegasAces - July 15, 2008
CHIPPER SIGHTING! ...hat backwards, on a folding chair, with his kid. AWESOME
bigjoe - July 14, 2008
It's not his kid
He said All-star weekend was “Grown-ups only”
royhobbs - July 14, 2008

sddbaker - July 14, 2008

bigjoe - July 14, 2008

You think Wayne Krivsky would have taken Jeff Francoeur for Josh Hamilton this past offseason? I think he would have. What a fucking amazing baseball player.
sdp - July 14, 2008

gondeee - July 14, 2008

OntheGo - July 14, 2008

I like how they talk about Hamilton's bye
When it’s really relieved that they can shave some time off this dreaded long event.
royhobbs - July 14, 2008
Imagine
if Nomar was in one of these… he’d have to adjust his gloves and sweat bands after EVERY pitch.
gondeee - July 14, 2008
Can I just say that...
...Erin Andrews is really hot.
gondeee - July 14, 2008
Yep
OntheGo - July 14, 2008

Swo12bv - July 14, 2008

Swo12bv - July 14, 2008

Swo12bv - July 14, 2008
I’m sure A-Rod will see this and buy that guy a car.
10-4 - July 14, 2008
see that i mean. i know he’s not reading TC.
10-4 - July 14, 2008
Guy with a sign that says "josh hamilton is a hero"
I really can’t stand the overuse of the word hero. Why he is a hero? Because he was a druggy and then found Jesus? Because he hits homeruns? Josh Hamilton may be an inspirational story to some, but he’s not a hero. Jeez. Sorry to get off topic, that shit just sticks in my craw.
gondeee - July 14, 2008
I kind of agree
It was his own stupidity that put him into the situation he dealt with. I would love to see a stat wizard make a theoretic trail of what his stats could be based on minor league stats, natural progression, and all that stuff, and compare him to what he’s at now. I bet you anything had he been playing all those years he was sticking all sorts of needles and straws into him, he’d be an A-Rod/Pujols-type stat monster.
I dislike it when people try to rebut with “but the addiction!”, because he could avoided the torture by just saying no in the first place.
royhobbs - July 14, 2008
It was his own stupidity, and I’m not saying that he should be called a “hero” in the true sense of the word. I do give him all the credit in the world for coming back from where he was, to where he is now. Very few people could pull that off – not just coming back to baseball, but back to being a contributing member of society at all.
I just hope it keeps up – I don’t want him to relapse, because if he does, everything goes down the drain. That would be a bigger waste than the first time around.
There’s a great article out there, written by Hamilton himself, from the middle of last year some time. It was on espn.com. If I can find it I’ll post a link. I very rarely print things off the internets for posterity, but this one gives me chills every time I read it. I was getting chills last night too – I mean, how must it have felt for him when the fans were chanting his name during round one, and every single swing was resulting in a 450-foot-plus bomb? Wow.
VegasAces - July 15, 2008
What Hamilton did last night was amazing. What Hamilton has done to have gotten to last night is also commendable. But considering the circumstances that put him in the situation he needed to overcome to get to last night, I’ll never see him as a hero in the sense of that I’d want my future PujoliƱos to look up to. A sports hero, maybe. But nothing else. I seriously have to start watching ESPN events with the mute button engaged from now on.
royhobbs - July 15, 2008
Agreed
Hero is too strong. My Pujolina will know who he is, but she will also know how much more he could have been.
VegasAces - July 15, 2008
Thank Pujols
It’s over.
